A field of 100 golfers competed at the annual Extra Supermarket Rotary Charity Golf at the Fiji Gold Club in Vatuwaqa over the weekend.
The golfers graced the fields on a sunny Friday morning and set out to complete 18 holes for a worthy cause.
The annual Rotary Charity Golf Day has existed for over 10 years and raises money for the cause being specifically supported each year.
“This year’s cause was supporting Cure Fiji with their work on rheumatoid heart disease (RHD),” the director of the charity golf event for the Rotary Club of Suva, Kevin McCarthy said.
“Rotary has assisted in funding a new Echo machine that will allow for greater screening for RHD amongst our young people. The day was supported by a myriad of sponsors and corporate teams. We are also very pleased to have the Honourable Prime Minister join us for the day.”
The format for the day was a four-member team playing the Ambrose format.
The winning team on the day was from NRW Macallan with a magnificent score of 57.5.
Those attending then supported further after an auction of some great prizes.
McCarthy said they raised an amount in line with their projections.
