Nadi FC recorded an impressive win in round 10 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League after defeating Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-2 at the Fiji Football Academy in Suva yesterday.

Head coach Mohammed Ashif Khan praised his side for digging deep to the win but noted a few areas his boys needed to work on before the next round.

“The boys were excellent today, but there’s just a few things I’ve taken note of that needs improvement,” he said.

Nadi managed to score three goals in the first spell for a 3-0 lead, before finding the back of the net again in the second half as Tailevu/Naitasiri managed to pile two goals against them.

“Fitness was an issue here today as it was very evident in their performance here at the FFA Academy.”

“We will need to work on this because if fitness is not there we can get easily pressured by our opponents.”

The side also featured five members of the Fiji under-20 national team.

Khan said they were slowly looking to bring Nadi back to their former glory, and the win yesterday meant that the side was heading in the right direction.

“We just want to make Nadi great again, and with a handful of young talented players we have, I believe we will be able to do that.”

They will face Nasinu in their next DPL match, which will be held in three weeks.

“So now we have a lot of time to go over our weaknesses and our strengths, where we can look on how we can better our performance on the field.”

He said he was happy to see his senior players constantly communicating with their younger players, and listed communication on the field as an important aspect of their game.

“We also need work on our ball handling, and we should have enough time now to focus on these weaknesses before we face Nasinu.”

In other matches played yesterday, Ba edged Suva 1-nil while Nadroga beat Navua by the same scoreline.
