THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) accorded a traditional welcoming ceremony for its newly elected leader Aseri Radrodro yesterday.
Party general secretary Viliame Takayawa said the management board met and discussed several party visions in their first management board meeting with Mr Radrodro as its party leader.
He said Roko Avenito Kolikata was elected the acting president until the next special general meeting was called.
Also, on SODELPA’s agenda is the party’s plans to get the 2013 Constitution reviewed.
“We’ve been asking for the review since 2014 and until today it is also one of our main items in the coalition agreement,” he said.
The board also had the opportunity to hear from their new leader on his vision and thoughts going into the municipal elections (yet to be decided) and the 2026 polls.
He said most of the SODELPA members were impressed by the performances of their three ministers, Ifereimi Vasu, Viliame Gavoka and Mr Radrodro.
Mr Takayawa said they were looking forward to “the future of SODELPA”.
Meanwhile, he said the PM’s suggestion about a “Government of national unity” did not pose a threat to SODELPA as their members were doing a great job.
