Fiji Airports Ltd is engaging a consultant to draw up a master plan for potential landside development at the Nausori International Airport to guide its work.
This was made known by Fiji Airports CEO Mesake Nawari in his submission to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Affairs in a public hearing last week.
It is understood that three major projects are proposed in its 2024-2033 Master Plan for Nausori airport, and includes a commercial development, taxiway and refurbishment of the existing terminal.
In a presentation to the Fiji- New Zealand/New Zealand-Fiji Business Councils’ 2024 joint conference in Nadi last week, Fiji Airports director projects Niranjwan Chettiar said the commercial
development at Nausori, under the landside master plan, was still at the tender stage.
He said they were considering consultation and planning for work in the general aviation precinct and taxiway — to boost commercial revenue and also free up space at Nadi International Airport.
He added the refurbishment of the existing terminal was also on the list with the focus on maximising efficiency and enabling better passenger experience.
“Fiji Airport is working with the Fijian Government on the required funding to develop a new international terminal wing as a long-term expansion plan,” Mr Chettiar said.
He said consultation on that project was ongoing.
