Ba Town is set to host its inaugural Amateur Boxing competition today at the Ba Market Bure.
This landmark event will feature 90 boxers from various regions across the country, including representatives from the Army Boxing Club in Suva, Navua, Bukuya, Lautoka, Rakiraki, Sigatoka and Ba itself.
The tournament is organised by Dimples Boxing Club of Ba, operating on a budget exceeding $4000.
According to president Michael Ali, this event is a significant milestone for Ba, a town known for its passion for soccer.
“Everyone looks forward to this event and everyone in Ba is excited to watch boxers from all over the country battle it out here in Ba.”
The competition offers gold medals for the winners, silver for second place, bronze for third, and a trophy for the best boxers.
“The winners receive gold medal, second place and third place will get silver and bronze medals respectively while best boxers will receive a trophy,” Ali added.
This event marks the return of amateur boxing to the Western region after a 30-year hiatus, promising a total of 45 entertaining fights.
