Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officially opened the Rooster Poultry’s $13million state-of-the-art processing facility in Ba yesterday.

The plant was supplied from Europe with latest innovations in technology to facilitate greater output capability, speed of throughput processing, while meeting high hygiene standards.

“Rooster is proudly locally owned, and locally operated,” Mr Rabuka said as he highlighted its remarkable growth and economic multiplier effect.

“In recent years, Rooster has supported numerous community projects and made significant sponsorship investments, most notably in sports to develop our young talent, fostering national pride.”

Rooster Poultry general manager Stanley Raniga said they processed 650,000 whole chickens in their best month.

“With the new production plant, we can triple production to 1.95 million chickens a month,” Mr Raniga said.

He said they would continue to invest in new sheds, breeding capability, and feed processing to support the significant uplift in production capability.

Insurance service provider BSP Life was acknowledged as the sole shareholder in Future Farms over the transformative growth period.

“Their commitment to nurturing this business with significant capital investment, strategic oversight, strong governance and trust in the future of our country is deeply acknowledged,” Mr Rabuka said.

He noted the FNPF’s recent acquisition of 40 per cent shares in Future Farms.

“This is the first collaboration between our country’s two largest institutional investors in an asset that is high performing, with tremendous growth potential delivering value for both entities’ stakeholders.”

Rooster now supplies major supermarket chains countrywide.

In the past two years, it has invested $40m that enabled increasing manpower from 350 to 450. || WEST- Rabuka Opens Rooster Poultry Processing Unit || New Processing Unit for Rooster Poultry
