Indigenous-owned investment company Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL) has signed up as a sponsor of the Fiji Indigenous Business Council (FIBC) conference scheduled for May 29-30 in Suva.

FHL Group chief executive Jaoji Koroi and FIBC chairman Ulai Taoi signed the sponsorship agreement at the FHL headquarters yesterday.

He said the partnership also marked the renewal of the relationship between FHL and FIBC.

“FHL was set up to accelerate iTaukei’s participation in business so this partnership falls rightly into our mandate to create a platform where iTaukei businesses can share ideas, share problems and work together for the acceleration of our involvement in business,” he said.

“More importantly, recently, the FHL Board has allowed us to invest alongside resource owners or landowners. This is something new for us where the board has allocated 10 per cent of our capital to invest alongside landowners or resource owners.

“But what we finding is they need a lot of help in terms of preparing them to be able to become investment-ready,” Mr Koroi said.

He said discussions with FIBC was to see if this can be facilitated through the conference platform.

“It is always a challenge going into business and this partnership is where we can make things easier to try and make this journey a success.”

Mr Taoi acknowledged FHL’s support in reviving their partnership, and acknowledged networking opportunities that will be available at the symposium.
