The Nadi rugby side will defend the Farebrother Trophy against Lautoka in the first challenge at Lawaqa Park this Saturday.

Fiji Rugby Union operations manager Tiko Matawalu said as much as Nadi wanted to play the match at their home ground, the match would be played in Sigatoka.

“Prince Charles Park was the first option but since the ground was already booked for the next two weeks, we had to bring it to Lawaqa Park,” Matawalu said.

Prince Charles Park is booked for rugby league this Saturday while there’s a boxing event at the venue a week later.

Matawalu said it was the responsibility of both the FRU and the Nadi Rugby Union to make bookings for the ground.

“Nadi wanted to play on Friday night but that is not possible as we have other supplementary matches before the Farebrother Challenge.”

Meanwhile, Lautoka gained promotion to the Skipper Cup competition last year and has finished in the top six this year.

The side will come up against an in-form Nadi side at Lawaqa Park on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
