Lelean Memorial School’s (LMS) dominant run in the Fiji Secondary School Cricket U19 women’s league continues as they gear up to face Willam Cross College in the semi-finals this Saturday at Albert Park in Suva.
Having defeated last year’s finalists Suva Grammar School in the quarter-finals, LMS have shown their determination to make a mark in the competition.
Cricket Fiji president Sitiveni Rokoro commended Lelean Memorial School for their dream run in their debut tournament.
“The upcoming semi-final match against William Cross College, who are also making their first appearance in the semifinals, promises to be a thrilling contest,” said Rokoro.
“Defending champions Adi Cakobau School will need to be well-prepared to face a strong Tailevu North team, which includes four members of the national U19 women’s team.
“The semi-finals, as well as the 3rd-4th place and finals, will be held at Albert Park this Saturday. Cricket Fiji will provide game day meals and transportation for all participating teams,” he added.
“During the break between the semi-final and final matches, cricket tryout programs for children will be organised at the ground.”
All team supporters, families, and friends are encouraged to come down to Albert Park and show their support for the teams. Meanwhile, the Western zone U19 women’s competition will kick off this week at the Denarau cricket oval with four teams — Nadi Sangam (SSKMC), Nadi Muslim College, Sri Vivekananda College, and Ratu Navula College.
