Despite years of consultations, Savusavu still does not have a proper sewage system in place.
While raising this, the Savusavu Town Council chairman Shankar Singh said there has been lack of progress in addressing it.
“Every town should have a proper sewage system,” he said.
The absence of a sewage system, he said, poses significant risks to the environment.
“If there is no proper sewage system, unwanted material will enter the natural bay,” he said.
There was an urgent need, he said, for landowners to step in by providing the solution to the problem.
“This is by providing land for the construction of a proper sewage system,” he said.
He said there was a collaborative effort required to address the longstanding issue.
