Day one of the Coca-Cola Triple N Zone was called off yesterday after heavy rain, lightning and thunderstorms at the HFC Bank Stadium.

Triple N Zone president Solomone Seru said they had no choice but to call off the competition to ensure the safety of students, athletes, and officials at the stadium.

“The competition had to be on hold three times yesterday before we finally called it off around 2pm,” he said.

“There were lightning experienced and we could not afford to have our athletes competing because we do not want to take any risks.”

Seru said the competition had been going smoothly throughout the day until it started raining.

The rest of the events have been postponed until today.

“We will have to see if the weather is good before we can allow the competition to go on tomorrow (today).”
