Tourists are looking at us, says Tourism Fiji CEO, Brent Hill.

He made this comment following a clean-up exercise at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi where plastic bottles, aluminium cans and plastic containers were collected by cruise ship passengers and Tourism Fiji staff members.

“Our environment is everything to us, especially for an industry that is heavily reliant on our beaches and our ocean,” Mr Hill said.

“If we are not looking after it then we could lose out on tourists coming to our shores. We have seen it happening in Bali and in other countries.

“It will take everybody to address this problem.”

Mr Hill said he was encouraged by corporate bodies working with Tourism Fiji in programs that encourage sustainable tourism.
