A heavy rain alert remains in force for Northern Division and northern Lau group.

According to the weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning, a trough of low pressure lies to the north of Fiji.

The weather office says it is expected to gradually drift south and affect the northern parts of the group from today.

Meanwhile, a moist east to southeast wind flow prevails over the group.

The forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group, expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over Northern division and Northern Lau group.

Cloudy periods with some showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu-Naitasiri, Lomaiviti and rest of Lau group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers elsewhere.

Afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls expected.

Isolated heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.

Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds and moderate to rough seas.
