Four provincial rugby competitions – Skipper Cup, Vodafone Vanua Championship, ANZ Marama Cup, and Royal Tea Ranadi – have completed an exciting five rounds of competition despite challenging weather conditions.
Throughout these rounds, rugby fans have been treated to a spectacular display of rugby, with matches being played in both wet and dry environments.
While a limited number of matches were successfully played, few other games had to be postponed to a later date due to adverse weather conditions.
Fiji Rugby Union operations manager Jikoibau Matawalu expressed satisfaction with the five rounds played.
“Despite the weather so far, it has been a great five rounds of competition, where there has been great display of rugby played during a mixture of wet and dry conditions,” said Matawalu.
“New teams like Kadavu and Taveuni have made an impressive entrance into the competitions, showing significant potential to reach the top eight or even higher in their inaugural season.
“Despite facing challenges like game postponements due to unfavourable weather conditions and unplayable grounds that compromise player safety and welfare, hosting unions have collaborated to facilitate the continued progress of the competitions.”
