Sevens wizard Waisale Serevi was inducted into the Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame in Auckland, New Zealand on Friday night.

Newshub reported that rugby luminaries gathered at Eden Park to celebrate the Pacific’s profound impact on the sport.

In his Facebook post, Serevi expressed his gratitude for being inducted into the inaugural Pasifika Rugby Hall of Fame.

“Grateful to God Almighty for all he’s done on this journey and it was an honor and privilege to be inducted to the first Pacifica Rugby Hall of Fame class of 2024 is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life to be recognized at home by my Pacifica family.

“It was even special to be inducted alongside some of our Pasifika legends of the games – Sir Brian Williams, All Blacks Captain Ardie Savea, Samoa 7s coach Brian Lima, Jonah Lomu, Black Ferns captain Seuiuli Fiao’o Fau’amausili.

“Receiving my blazer from the ‘Ice Man’ Sir Michael Jones makes it a memorable night to remember,” Serevi said.

The Qarani, Gau native dedicated his achievement to all his teammates.

“To all the coaches and players who I played with, who coached me, and against whom I played, this is for you all.”

The other rugby greats in the inaugural induction were All Blacks colossus Jonah Lomu, World Cup-winning Black Ferns captain Seuiuli Fiao’o Fau’amausili, Manu Samoa heroes Peter Fatialofa, Brian Lima, and former Wallabies flanker George Smith.
