Bainimarama and Qiliho sentencing today | Police ensures no disruption

Former prime minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended police commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho will know their fate today.

The court sentencing, scheduled for 11am at the Magistrate Court in Suva is expected to draw in a huge crowd of supporters as always happened in their past court hearings.

Police Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew has reiterated the need to uphold the rule of law and respect court proceedings.

“Our focus is ensuring there’s no disturbance or disruptions and I reiterate the call to respect the rule of law and let the court process take it’s course.”

Mr Bainimarama has been found guilty of one count of attempt to pervert the course of justice while Mr Qiliho  is guilty of one count of abuse of office.
