“We have what it takes to play in any condition.” These were the words of Rewa FC head coach Rodicks Singh after his side defeated Labasa 2-1 in the Digicel Fiji Premier League yesterday.

Despite the muddy conditions at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Singh’s side was able to continue their undefeated streak while Labasa lost their first match of the season.

“The boys fought hard right to the end and they were able to deliver what was wanted of them,” Singh said.

The match was delayed twice yesterday but was given the go-ahead after the rain subsided.

“We have what it takes to compete in any condition and the boys proved that today and I am proud of their performance.”

Singh deemed their defence and running lines as areas they needed to work on as they progressed into the league.

“One mistake in our defence allowed Labasa a chance to score and we need to tighten up on this if we want to continue with this winning streak.”

Looking ahead to the Oceania Football Federation Men’s Championship League, Singh said preparations had been coming along well for his side.

“All our matches are preparation matches for the OFC, and the boys have Ben working hard on improving their game.

“However, due to the recent rainy weather conditions, training has been quite difficult because of the ground availability but we have been able to work our way around it.”

The side gained three points from the match yesterday and will be looking to continue with their winning form.

“We want to continue this winning way and gain as many points as we can.

“After this tournament, we have the Fiji FACT and we’re looking forward to that as well.

“We are blessed that there’s no injury among our players despite the ground conditions, so this is good for us because we do not want any of our players injured before the OFC Championship League.”

Despite time constraints, Singh is adamant his side will be ready when the tournament kick starts.

“We don’t have enough time on our hands and the boys know this so they have been putting in the work.”
