Underrated lock Ratu Leone Rotuisolia played his first full game for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in the nail biter against the Waratahs yesterday in round five of Super Rugby Pacific.
After an injury-plagued season in 2023, Rotuisolia changed his routine this year and earned himself more than 80 minutes of rugby against a relentless Waratahs at Churchill Park.
“I think I might need some new lungs after this game, really had to dig deep in this one,” he said after the game.
“A different mentality for me this year. Last year I suffered injuries but I looked after my body well this year and I’m happy to see it through past 80 minutes.”
He looked on form throughout the game and stepped up during crucial moments.
“That was a very tough one. “For most of us boys, that was the first time we got into golden point. I’m very proud of our efforts, digging in deep, Waratahs did come our hard but I’m happy we got the win.”
Filling in the shoes of the injured Flying Fijian Isoa Nasilasila is not so easy.
“It’s a big role to fill. Nasilasila is a big Flying Fijians lock, he is missing a couple of games because of injury and I can’t wait for him to be back,” he added.
Originally from Rewa, Rotuisolia acknowledged the support of fans in every home game, pushing them to dig deep until the last second.
