Police officers who want to break the law should realise it will not be long before they don the orange uniforms given by the Fiji Corrections Department, says Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew.
He said the Fiji Police Force is discouraged when an officer is implicated in criminal activities.
“When a policeman is implicated, all the training, education, the finance that we put in that officer to get this particular officer recruited and bring up in the organisation is lost,” he said.
“When they fall short, that usually frustrates me.
“The officer who committed the offence, did he consider his family before committing the offence?
“I always tell my officers when we meet, be careful on the change of uniform — from this uniform to the orange uniform.
“You can be a police officer today, tomorrow you’ll be in prison.”
