THE reopening of the HFC Bank Stadium has been moved to the end of the month due to the delay in the track certification.

This has been confirmed by the Fiji Sports Council, where they are expecting to reopen the stadium on February 29.

Works on the tracks started in September last year, with the Government allocating a total of $1.9 million, to the council’s line agency, the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the upgrading and repairing of the tracks.

The tracks underwent three stages of repairing and upgrading and were supposed to be reopened by the beginning of the month.

Therefore, the stadium will not be able to host any events until March 1, with the first official event being the Oceania Athletics Championships.

The tournament is set to kick start from June 4-8 and will feature around 20 member federations from all over the Pacific.

Works on the tracks have been carried out by an Australian-based company called Sphynx Solutions Pty Ltd, which was awarded the tender to supply, install, and commission the entire track works, and is on track to completing the installation works, last year.
