The recent contribution of more than $17,000 worth of gym equipment to the Rewa Rugby Union by the Minister for Public Works, Meteorological and Transport Filipe Tuisawau marks an important milestone for the union.
The aim of this support is to contribute to the development of a dedicated training facility for the rugby players, providing them with the resources they need to prepare for upcoming tournaments.
Although the goal of establishing a ground and a gym house for the Rewa rugby team is still a work in progress, this substantial donation signals a positive step in that direction.
Rewa Rugby Union president Ro Macanawai Mataitini expressed his gratitude for the donation, acknowledging the efforts of former prime minister Frank Bainimarama in advocating for the procurement of these equipment over the years.
He also expressed appreciation for the current government’s support in seeing this initiative through to completion.
“It sets a positive precedent for other rugby unions and sports organisations, the importance of providing adequate training facilities and equipment to support athletes and further the development of sports at the grassroots level,” said Mataitini.
