15-year-old nets winner for Navua

IN an electrifying match between Navua and Nadroga in the Digicel Fiji Premier League, it was 15-year-old debutant Reeshab Permal who stole the show by scoring the winning goal in the 71st minute, securing a thrilling 2-1 victory for Navua.

The match, which took place at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour, was an intense display of skill and resilience from both teams.

The game got off to an exhilarating start, with Ali Mekwir from Solomon Islands opening the scoring for Navua in the 24th minute of the first half, giving them a 1-0 lead.

The hosts showcased their determination and fighting spirit, refusing to be intimidated by their opponents.

In the second half, Nadroga’s Rusiate Matererega found the equaliser in the 52nd minute, setting the stage for an intense battle.

As the clock ticked on, it was the young talent, Reeshab Permal, who emerged as the hero of the match.

In the 71st minute, he scored the winning goal for Navua FC, propelling them to a well-deserved victory.

Navua coach Saiyad Ali expressed his elation at the team’s performance, emphasising the significance of the win, especially in the context of the first match of the Digicel Premier League.

He applauded the team for their resilience and hard work, acknowledging the formidable strength of the Nadroga side.

“The victory is due to the team’s determination and unity, which allowed them to outshine their opponents and secure the win,” said Ali.

Ali highlighted the areas that the team would focus on in their upcoming matches.

“In the next game we will be more focused on our mid-field work and the build up play from the back.”

Ali also emphasized the importance of regrouping and learning from any mistakes in preparation for the next game against Lautoka FC.

Meanwhile, Nadi beat Tailevu Naitasiri 3-1.
