More than 20,000 marijuana plants were seized, and 42 related arrests made in the Northern Division between January 17 and February 12 this year.
Fiji Police Assistant Commissioner – Operations Livai Driu said more green plants, seeds and dried leaves believed to be marijuana were seized in the past week.
ACP Driu said the recent spate of successful raids and arrests have been largely attributed to increased sharing of information.
He said the only people benefitting from the illicit drug trade were the cultivators and distributors, “and while a few get rich, the rest of society are left to suffer the health and social implications”.
The special operations aims to identify new farms and revisit known cultivation areas.
