In a collaborative effort between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the Golden West Humanitarian Foundation, 24 military personnel are set to participate in an International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) course organised by the Engineers Squadron.

The primary objective of the course is to train and equip individuals, focusing on establishing a proficient and secure EOD capability.

RFMF Chief of Staff, Land Force Command, Colonel Viliame Draunibaka emphasised the significance of such courses aligning with the Strategic Plan Beyond 2022, particularly in the pursuit of operational excellence.

He urged the participants to approach the course with dedication, highlighting its role in enhancing both the Fiji military’s operational capabilities and the participants’ individual skills and knowledge.

Major Paxton from the US Embassy in Fiji expressed excitement about the robust turnout for the course.

He stressed the importance of acquiring such skills, noting their relevance not only in peacekeeping missions abroad but also in regional operations.

The Golden West Humanitarian Foundation has previously conducted level one and two IMAS courses in the RFMF, boasting an impressive pass rate.
