Work on the Great Council of Chiefs complex is expected to be completed next year.

iTaukei Trust Fund communication specialist Naina Ragigia said the second stage of the extensive reconstruction of the Vale ni Bose Vakaturaga has just begun.

Marking a significant step forward in the restoration of the cherished landmark, substantial groundwork preceded the commencement of construction activities.

Pacific Building Solution (PBS) was chosen to manage and carry out the extensive work program, and, leveraging their proven expertise, Ms Ragigia said PBS had played a pivotal role in guiding the project to its successful completion.

“Following a tender process, Pacific Building Solutions has been selected to deliver the program of work,” she said.

“Contractors have moved on site for demolition work, including removing any last remnants of the foundations and building systems of the former Vale ni Bose.”

Simultaneously, the main project involving the Great Council of Chiefs building complex commenced this week and progressed seamlessly, meeting the planned schedule.

Ms Ragigia said the main GCC building complex project, which began last week was on schedule.

The old GCC complex was destroyed by fire in 2020. Asked about the total cost of the reconstruction, the iTaukei Trust Fund declined to comment.
