The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) Fiji received more than 11,000 applications for this year’s school assistance.

In a statement, FENC Fiji said out of this 11,000 they were expected to provide for only 3300.

“However, based on the need our numbers have been further increased to about 6400 and agreed by the board of trustees to support,” it said.

“This is all limited to the funds available which includes government funding and our corporate sponsors.

“We have been assisted with a government grant of $300 000 for the back to school assistance, and other projects to be launched.”

It added that their team has worked tirelessly over the past few months to get the packs done and delivered before school started.

“By Monday we hope that all successful applicants will have received their backpacks and if anyone who applied does not receive a call that means that they did not qualify for the FENC Fiji back to school assistance.

“We wish all students going to school a blessed year and FENC Fiji and we know by providing education assistance we are eradicating poverty and looking at our great future leaders of tomorrow to be successful in what they do,” the statement further read.
