Brace yourselves for heavy rain and thunderstorms from tomorrow afternoon until early Friday.
A weather alert was issued by the weather office stating an active weather system was brewing to the West of Fiji and set to move across the region.
This system brings with it the potential for substantial rainfall and thunderstorms.
Commencing tomorrow afternoon or evening, adverse weather is forecasted to continue until early Friday.
Members of the public are urged to be prepared for a prolonged period of challenging weather.
The primary concerns are localised heavy rain, which can result in flash flooding in low-lying areas, and there’s a heightened risk of river flooding.
Specific regions, including the Central Division, Nadroga/Navosa Province, interior of Ba, southern Bua, and Cakaudrove Province, may experience more intense thunderstorms and heavier rainfall during this period.
The weather is already unsettled because of the moist northwesterly winds, leading to afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Adding to the concern is the saturated ground from recent rainfall, increasing the vulnerability to flooding.
The impact of this weather event spans across all sectors of society, necessitating collective preparedness.
Residents of flood-prone areas have been warned to exercise caution, and everyone else to remain vigilant.
