About 300,000 people travelled through Nabouwalu in Bua over the past two years in 2021 and 2022.

Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa revealed this at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nabouwalu Passenger Terminal.

“In 2021, 159,206 people travelled to and from Nabouwalu, and over 147,539 in 2022,” he said.

“Simultaneously, the movement of cargo has been remarkable, with approximately 367,595 tonnes in 2021 and 330,440 tonnes in 2022.

“These figures underscore the critical role Nabouwalu plays in connecting people and facilitating trade, emphasising the necessity and timeliness of our new town development.”

Mr Nalumisa said the people of Bua had patiently waited.

“And as we break ground for the Nabouwalu Passenger Terminal, we want you to know that your dreams are no longer distant echoes,” he said.

“They are taking shape, becoming a tangible reality, brick by brick, and promise by promise. Furthermore, Nabouwalu will be amongst the first towns where town planners will ensure that all urban planning principles are applied.”

This commitment, he added showed Government’s dedication to create a model town where every aspect has been carefully designed to enhance the quality of life for its residents and visitors.
