Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are encouraged to register for Fiji’s first MSMEs conference, following the launch of the online registration portal yesterday.

Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) general manager Ramesh Chand said only 200 applicants would be approved and selection is done on first-come-first-serve basis.

He said the two-day event would feature notable speakers like the International Council for Small Business immediate past chair Dr Winslow Sargeant, Institute of Public Accountants group executive advocacy and policy Vicki Stylianou, and other local MSME experts.

“Topics for discussion cover various aspects of MSMEs including their role as economic drivers, impact on young entrepreneurs, overcoming barriers, talent acquisition strategies, addressing gender-based obstacles for women entrepreneurs, challenges and opportunities for cooperatives,” Mr Chand said.

“Another very important topic is empowering inclusivity for indigenous communities and people with disabilities,” he said.

Interested MSMEs operators can register on the BAF’s website or visit any Ministry of Trade office nearest to them.
