Lautoka football president Shalendra Prasad has thrown down the gauntlet to Ba, challenging the men in blue to retain the Pillay Garments Champion versus Champion trophy in the sugar city.
While Ba may appear formidable on paper with an impressive 20 CVC titles, Lautoka has secured the coveted trophy only twice.
Prasad acknowledged Lautoka’s resilience last year, commending their efforts to qualify and earn their spot in the CVC.
“Ba football is a good side and as we all know Ba only played five games in the IDC tournament and qualified for the CVC whereby Lautoka had to struggle the whole year to book their spot.
“We hope to see CVC is played on a gentleman sportsmanship way, we love to see our neighbours at home but nevertheless the crowd will be from Ba,” Prasad added.
Prasad appreciates Fiji Football’s effort in putting the matches together and the logistics side of things.
“Thank you, Fiji Football, for orchestrating the matches. As for Lautoka we will do our best and to see trophy remain in Lautoka,” Prasad concluded.
Lautoka will take on Ba next Sunday while the second leg will be played on February 4.
Both matches will be played at Lautoka’s Churchill Park.
