The Digicel Fiji Kulas are seeking the services of American-based footballer Talei Moodie to boost their campaign in the upcoming Women’s Olympic Football Tournament – Oceania Qualifier in Samoa from February 7-19.

Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf confirmed they’re finalizing the documents and is in contact with Moodie who is keen to join the team.

If Moodie comes through, she will be the third US-based player in the team with Trina Davis and Preeya Sigh also named and are set to join the team in training soon.

“We are hoping her passport will come through. She is a very highly skillful player, she was part of the future Kulas camp where she impressed the coaches. She has gone back to the US and is awaiting confirmation, but she qualifies for a passport anyway so there shouldn’t be an issue.

“The fact that she has another sister who is under-18 and a brother who is 17, they all play football and are great players at that. The parents are working very hard to ensure that Talei gets a passport so we are hoping that Immigration works quickly and if that happens, we will fly her in to be part of the Kulas in Samoa,” Yusuf said.

Moddie, 19, plays as a defender for the University of San Diego Athletics women’s soccer team in the United States. She attended Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, California.

Moodie, Davies and Singh are the only overseas players expected to join the Kulas with Australia-based Vanisha Kumar missing out on selection.
