Good news for ‘thronies’, or 1s fans as Digicel Fiji has announced it will soon air the iconic American fantasy drama television series on its DTV app following an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Digicel said the agreement would allow DTV app viewers to indulge in HBO originals, which includes Game of Thrones, the first season of House of the Dragon, Boardwalk Empire, Sex and the City, Chernobyl, Succession, The Sopranos, Silicon Valley, and The Newsroom.
“We are thrilled to offer this premium content on Sky Pacific and the DTV app to the fingertips of our customers,” Digicel Fiji CEO Farid Mohammed said in a statement.
“This aligns seamlessly with our vision to be the leading provider of premium entertainment in the country and the Pacific region, guaranteeing a viewing experience like never before.”
He said Digicel’s partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery was formed only three months after the launch of the DTV app, underscoring the telco’s commitment to the provision of world-class entertainment experiences for its viewers.
Premieres, repeats and binge-worthy back-to-back marathon sessions could be accessible on the TVWAN channel.
About six to 10 hours of HBO Originals’ first run episodes would be broadcasted on the channel every week.
DTV customers are expected to start seeing these HBO Originals on their TVWAN channel from January 15, and those who are keen to be part of the hype can subscribe to Sky Pacific and download the DTV app.
Digicel Fiji and Sky Pacific had introduced the DTV App on October 2023 after a TV broadcast licence was granted by Government.
The licence allowed the DTV app to provide services such as stream sports, movies, news and educational content, advertisements, and broadcast and stream local content.
