King of Sevens Waisale Serevi has revealed his interest in joining either the Flying Fijians or the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women as head coach.

This decision eventuated after he watched the Flying Fijians in action at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Serevi witnessed three of Fiji’s pool matches at the world cup and stayed on to watch the finals.

He said something around 15s rugby piqued his interest.

“I thought to myself that 15s rugby is interesting. Maybe I want to do something new and maybe they have people taking care of sevens. I want to do a new thing, maybe go to 15s rugby, learn, and help at the same time.

“I’m so excited and so keen if given the opportunity to coach the Fijiana Drua or whichever, I’d love to join and learn more.”

When asked if he has applied for the either the Flying Fijians or Drua women’s coaching job, Serevi said he has not.

Applications for the Flying Fijians coach position will close on January 12th, while the Fijian Drua Head Coach position closed on December 18, 2023.
