California native Yara Alves set a new world record at the Spartan Fiji Trifecta with the most completed Trifectas in a year with 34.
At the end of the Fijian leg in Nadi yesterday, Alves says she was extremely happy and proud to have created history in an event that tested the physical and mental fortitude of any man or woman.
“It required a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears but totally worth it,” said Alves at the end of her final race in Sabeto.
“I wanted to be the first female to hit 100 lifetime trifectas and I beat that record.”
Alves started her first race in 2016 in the United States. She is looking to push the record further out of reach by competing in five more trifectas before the end of 2023.
Meanwhile, Inna Kovalenko won the women’s elite category while Domir Aklimadiyer won the men’s division.
