History was created when US military personnel from the US Pacific Fleet participated in the ceremonial Changing of the Guard ceremony at the weekend.
The rotation of the guards is usually between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force and takes place at the main gate of the State House along Queen Elizabeth Drive.
The RFMF Band, which escorted the incoming RFMF guards to the gate before the formal handover, was accompanied by a band comprising men and women from the US Pacific Fleet.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces said the RFMF guards would take post and secure all the installations of the President of Fiji, which was part of a tradition entrusted to both forces.
