“All eight team’s are ready for the Ba Tikina Championship.”

This according to Ba Rugby Union (BRU) secretary Gabriel Kautoga.

“All team’s are set to go and it should be a good competition for the next five weekends,” said Kautoga.

Meanwhile, the official launch of the competition will be held today at Nailaga Village.

In a statement, BRU strategy planner Jeremy Duxbury said the Tikina Championship was designed to raise the performance of the Ba team in next year’s Skipper Cup and Ranadi Cup, and bring the far-flung villages and communities of the province together in a united way.

“Many villages in Ba remain somewhat isolated and certainly disconnected from those in the main township area; and through the Tikina Championships we hope to be able to bring everyone in Ba together using rugby as unifying tool.

“Eight tikina will take part – Bulu, Magodro, Nailaga, Naloto, Qailyaletina, Savatu, Veiyasana (Ba Town) and Yakete,” added Duxbury.
