More than 20 residents of Tamavua attended a public consultation regarding the Great Han development on Princes Rd recently.

Residents voiced their concerns regarding the two-storey building with 64 apartments which was approved in 2014.

Questions were asked regarding the absence of an Environmental Impact Assessment when the project started and a geotech assessment.

During the discussions it was also found that the developer had started with the construction of a third storey without the approval of the Suva City Council.

A resident said the building posed a threat to public safety.

Calls were made for a review of the project to follow safety and adhere to development regulations.

Meanwhile, Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa said construction would not proceed until ongoing issues were solved.
