Civil servants and police officers will be allowed to apply for public service license (PSV) permits after Government lifted the freeze that was on PSV permits on October 3rd.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has released new requirements for PSV applications for a rental permit, minibus permit and hire permit that allows civil servants and police officers to apply.
“For civil servants and police officers, they must obtain a letter of clearance from their Permanent Secretary and Commissioner of Police, respectively,” states the LTA checklist.
“Confirmation letter from Immigration Department on PR status and that the applicant ordinarily resides in Fiji.”
Acting LTA chief executive officer, Irimaia Rokosawa also stated in a public notice that LTA has streamlined its processes and requirements after undertaking a nationwide consultation to ensure there was improvement in the way it deals with processing PSV permits.
“Thorough assessments and proper scrutiny will be conducted upon the completion of applications and LTA requirements fulfilled to ensure wider economic participation for the economically disadvantaged,” said Mr Rokosawa.
Cabinet at its meeting on October 3 uplifted the freeze on PSC applications after hearing a submission from Minister for Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau.
