Tragedy struck a family in Semo, Sigatoka on Saturday after an elderly man was killed in a house fire.
The tin and wooden house was owned by Rajendra Singh who perished in the fire that started around 11am on Saturday.
Police have confirmed the victim was 73 years old.
“The victim is alleged to have gone back into the house in an attempt to put out the fire but was trapped inside, resulting in the tragic incident,” said the Fiji Police Force.
A joint investigation is in progress between the National Fire Authority and police to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
