A locomotive driver employed by Fiji Sugar Corporation has died after being crushed by a cane cart on Wednesday afternoon in Tavarau, Ba, the company has confirmed. Kadam Singh, 57, of Waiyavi, Lautoka, died after he got trapped under a cane cart.
FSC chief executive officer Bhan Singh said they were deeply concerned about the incident.

“FSC maintains a close and cooperative relationship with law enforcement agencies to support their efforts. We directly communicate with relevant authorities, offering the necessary information and re-sources to facilitate their independent and meticulous investigations.
“We share pertinent information per the ongoing investigations and uphold the integrity of the process while ensuring timely updates within the given parameters.”
Questions sent to the police yesterday remained unanswered when this edition went to press.
