The 2023 Uprising Music Festival, the venue for the finals of the Domo Vou Talei original song contest, announced yesterday that one of the Pacific’s biggest music stars Jah Boy will headline the event on October 7 this year.

The renowned Solomon Island reggae artist’s fusion of reggae, pop, hip-hop and R&B is expected to be a drawcard to one of Fiji’s biggest music events.

Festival organiser Ellana Kalounisiga of Knox Entertainment said they were bringing in Jah Boy in response to requests from fans.

“We love his (Jah Boy) vibe and we have had so many requests from people in Fiji to tour him on our island paradise and we think beachside at the Woodstock UMF is a perfect place for him to share some love,” she said.

“As always we want to showcase the best local performers and musicians for all to enjoy. Our beloved music festival has a reputation to uphold and we are committed to running a professional event that is well-administered, safe, fun for everyone and offers people the chance to really let their hair down and enjoy some of the best music Fiji has to offer.”

So apart from witnessing 10 of Fiji’s budding singers and songwriters going up against each other in the Domo Vou Talei Competition for the $5000 grand prize courtesy of Westpac, $3000 People’s Choice award courtesy of The Fiji Times and $1000 Best Performance Award courtesy of Kaila!, music fans will also get to witness Jah Boy do his thing live on stage.
