The national anthem should also be composed in the iTaukei language, says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.
He told the celebrations marking International Day of the World’s Indigenous People in Suva yesterday the national anthem of all countries was sung in its indigenous language and its official language.
“There was a letter writer in the newspaper saying we should respect the singing of the national anthem of Fiji.
“We have not translated our national anthem into vosa vaka Viti (iTaukei language) and the tune is the same.
“The words that will convey the meaning of the English words have not been composed.
“Hopefully, our taskforce could also look into that.”
