A new Tebbutt-Times poll has found The People’s Alliance party to be the country’s most popular party.
Tebbutt Research polled 1014 adults between June 4 and 12. They were asked to choose the party they would vote for if there was an election held the next day.
According to the results, 50 per cent of respondents indicated they would vote for The People’s Alliance.
FijiFirst garnered 13 per cent of the results, while the National Federation Party and SODELPA trailed with 4 per cent each.
Of the respondents, 10 per cent responded they would not vote, while 7 per cent were unsure and 9 per cent declined to name a party or individual. A total of 26 per cent of respondents were “undecided”.
Tebbutt Research said when this subgroup was filtered, and the results only looked at people who named a party or independent, 67 per cent of respondents would vote for The People’s Alliance party, 17 per cent for FijiFirst, and 6 per cent each for NFP and SODELPA.
“There were no statistically significant differences found in the results by gender, across regions or between age groups,” the poll report stated.
“It is important to note that the poll is conducted only among adults in Fiji with access to a mobile phone and does not poll any eligible voters residing outside the country. It does not purport to know how the ‘undecided’ population would vote and does not consider electoral procedures and how seats are allocated. It cannot be used to predict the outcome of an election.”
The Tebbutt-Times Poll has been funded by The Fiji Times and conducted independently by Tebbutt Research since 1992.
