Nadroga Rugby Union head coach Etonia Naba has challenged his players to punch above their weight if they are to make a mark in this year’s Skipper Cup competition.
Naba’s team beat Namosi 26-10 at Thomson Park in Navua yesterday, recording its first win of the season.
The former Fiji 7s forward says the team needs to give winning performances week in and week out if they are to make the semi-finals.
“Our boys played well today but they need to be consistent. We need to register more wins like this to be able to cement our position in the top four,” the former Nadroga forward said.
Naba acknowledged the performance of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua winger Taniela Rakuro, who came off the bench to score the last try for the Stallions.
“I always tell the boys, if Dan (Rakuro) can do it, so can many others.
He is small in size but he has set the bar high for himself and he is working towards that.”
Nadroga halfback Aminiasi Natoga scored two first-half tries as they led 12-10 at halftime. Namosi’s tries were scored by fullback Esala Nalobo and halfback Are Lelekula.
The Stallions pulled away in the second spell with tries to winger Apilmeleki Nabole and Rakuro. In the under-20 division clash, Nadroga beat Namosi 13-7.
