Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the Rewa Vutia Road project is progressing and that it will be constructed.
The road is to be built from Lomanikoro Village in Rewa to Vutia. He made the comment last week while officiating during the commissioning of a new jetty at Muanaira Village in Vutia, Rewa.
“So we have allocated funds in terms of further scoping of the project in the 2023-20224 budget,” Ro Filipe said.
“So we will see how that goes in terms of the work that needs to be done, preparatory works and how we can progress that in the upcoming budget and of course in the next one from 2024-2025.”
He said there was still more to be done before plans were fully implemented.
“Because it is a big project and there are also issues regarding the old delta area and environmental vulnerability, so that needs to be taken into account.
“And of course, when you build a road, it is also critical to have socio-economic impact analysis.
“So that the benefits of a road goes directly to the road users and how we can manage that because the road can bring positive and negative impacts.”
