In a heartfelt display of compassion, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro visited Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) on Saturday to deliver contributions from generous donors aimed at aiding the school’s boarders.
The visit comes in the aftermath of a tragic incident that occurred on June 13 when a fire engulfed the school’s dormitory (Bure Sukuna), leaving behind a trail of devastation.
Minister Radrodro, accompanied by government officials, arrived at RKS to convey the heartfelt sympathies of the Government and extend support to the affected students, parents, staff, and alumni.
As he stood amid the charred remnants of the dormitory, the Minister’s words of comfort resonated deeply with those present, providing a glimmer of hope amid the despair.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Radrodro emphasised the Government’s commitment to assisting the school in this challenging time.
He assured the nation that the restoration and welfare of RKS would be a priority in the upcoming budget announcement scheduled for Friday, June 30.
This announcement brought a sense of relief to the RKS community, signaling that their plight had not gone unnoticed.
Recognising the magnitude of the task at hand, Minister Radrodro acknowledged the responsibility placed upon the staff of the Ministry of Education.
The rehabilitation and rebuilding of RKS would require a concerted effort and a collaborative approach, involving not only the Government but also the support of various stakeholders, including donors, parents, and the wider community.
