The Marist Brothers High School Under-18 rugby union team’s spirits remain strong despite the shock 30-10 drubbing by Nasinu Secondary School last weekend.

They are already preparing for their game this weekend against last year’s Deans U18 finalists Suva Grammar School. As runner up in this same grade, rugby officials say it is too early to write them off.

Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union vice president Savenaca Muamua, said given the strength and capabilities of the two teams, the match on Saturday should be an exciting one to watch.

“That is what it’s supposed to be like in secondary school srugby,” he said.

“It is the team that is well prepared will win.

“Marist needs to really get a good team on the field, otherwise there will be a repeat of what happened last week over Nasinu.

He said schools participating in the Southern Zone competition had prepared really well.

“They had a very good off-season and most of them are using the national coaches to assist them.”

In other Southern Zone U18 matches this weeked, Nasinu will face Gospel High School, Dudley High School will take on Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, and Latter-Day Saints Church College will play Waidina Secondary School.

Muamua called on rugby followers to turn up at the Marist Brothers High School grounds and support their schools.
