Investigate hospital mortuary – Seruiratu

OPPOSITION Leader Inia Seruiratu is calling on the Coalition Government to investigate the Levuka Hospital mortuary that has ceased operations since April this year.
Mr Seruiratu made the call during a press conference on Friday.
Some people on Levuka who spoke to this newspaper, said they were being told to bury their deceased family members ‘straight away’.
Mr Seruiratu said mortuaries, especially in the Levuka Hospital was part of an ultimate health care facility which needed to be fixed.
“This is something that we used to be criticized for, health services,” he said.
“Now, the mortuary in Levuka has not been operating for the last few weeks.
“That has to be fixed and we plead with government please, essential services is important to all of us.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad said Mr Seruiratu should be ashamed to complain about infrastructure, particularly the health infrastructure.
“We are aware of some of the state of the health services and we are dealing with it and more will be announced in the 2023-2024 budget,” he said.
