Aussie school on Fiji tour

The Fiji National Rugby League Academy comprising of students that featured in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition will play two games against a visiting Kirwan State High School from Australia.

The premier rugby league academy side from North Queensland, Australia arrived into the country yesterday and is scheduled to play one match tomorrow in Suva.

Kirwan State High School head coach Nathan Norford said they were looking forward to playing the Fijian boys.

“They are big, strong and agile and I will not be surprised if we see a lot more in the future in Australian rugby league,” Norford said.

“We have few games over the next week here and we are excited for the clash.” Fiji Secondary School’s Rugby League media officer Laisiasa Corerega said alongside the visiting U18 side, a few NRL scouts travelled with the team after having identifed some of the local players.

“We will have one match in Suva and one in the Western Division and we acknowledge Fiji Bati head coach Wise Kativerata for organising such a tour,” he said.
