Quota golf event in Suva

TOP Suva golfers are set to compete in today’s Quota Event at the Fiji Golf Club (FGC) course in Vatuwaqa.

The event sponsored by Goodman Fielder will be played in A, B, C grades and division I and II for ladies.

FGC manager Nigel Goundan explained the Quota Event.

“In Quota, each golfer starts with points that match his or her handicap. If the handicap is 3, the golfer starts with three points,” Goundan said.

“If the handicap is 26, the golfer starts with 26 points. This starting point total is the quota.

“So the goal is to get from your starting quota to 36 (or 39) by adding points thusly.

“For all Albatross your get 6 points, Eagles you get 5 point, Birdies 4 point, pars 3 point Bogeys 2 points and Double Bogeys 1 point.

“These scores are gross not net e.g., a gross double bogey is worth 1 point.”

Goundan said all regular golfers would be out in full force at this event to enjoy the last few tournaments before the last monthly medal event next week followed by the season closing.

“There have been good scores recorded every week as the course is well maintained and the greens are in top condition.

“A big thank you to the management and staff of Goodman Fielders Fiji for their continuous support towards Fiji Golf Club and golfing in Fiji.”

Tee off from 8am until 1pm. Prizes in all grades and NTPS on all par 3s.

Entry fee $10 per player.
